Spring into Healthy Habits

After kicking the winter blues it is now time to start preparing for Spring! As we are getting excited for the warmer weather and trading in our snow boots for our Easter Bonnets we also need to get back into our Healthy Habits. Spring gives us warm sunshine and beautiful flowers which gives us the perfect reason to get out of the house and enjoy the fresh air!

We don’t have to be cooped up in the house anymore which gives us a chance to kick our exercise routine up a knotch! Start an excercise routine. The weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer! This is the perfect time of year to begin a walking regimen!

Add fresh fruits and vegetables back into your diet! As the weather improves, many more options are available for fresh produce. If you eat well, you feel well!!

Protect your skin. As the weather gets warmer, the UV Index increases. Make sure you wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 to protect your skin, even on milder days. Sunglasses and hats also protect your eyes from damaging UV rays!

Drink More Water. As the heat index increases, so does your body’s need for water. Make an effort to drink more water in order to prevent dehydration.

Renew relationships. When the weather is warmer, it becomes easier to get out and see friends. Visit with friends, go out for coffee or to see a movie. Research has shown that good, strong relationships benefit your overall health and happiness.

Nourish your mind. Meditate for at least 5 minutes a day in nature whenever possible. Plan activities that stimulate neural pathways, such as visiting an art gallery or studying a new language.
