Helping Locally at Canal View Albion

Helping Locally At Canal View Albion, NY

Annika D’Andrea President/CEO of Tender Loving Family Care, LLC is the new owner of the Erie Canal Schoolhouse. This schoolhouse was once St. Mary’s Catholic School, a Bed and Breakfast (B&B) and currently an Assisted Living and Family Type Home for Adults.  D’Andrea purchased this Historical Home in order expand her strong desire to help the elderly and family caregivers in our community.

The home previously was owned by Lou and Jeri Becker. The Beckers purchased the schoolhouse in 2004 adding the much needed TLC and turning it into an amazing B&B.  Previously this was a home that serviced many of St. Mary’s past students and the community.

“This is a true Land-Mark. From a school where children played and learned, a B&B that beautifully restored the rich history of the school, now the perfect place for our loved ones. Our seniors will live a well dignified life in a comfortable, safe and professional home environment.  Our residents and adult day care visitors will enjoy maximum independence, freedom and comfort while receiving the quality assistance they need.”

This has become TLFC’s 2nd Family Type Home for Adults, Social Adult Day Program and Respite Care. The Albion home will become Canal View and you will find our beautiful Garden View in the Town of LeRoy. Our mission is to provide quality care in a warm, loving, safe, clean and attractive home filled with an extended family that cares for and about each other. We provide the needed supervision and gentle kindness that a person would hope to find for their loved ones.

Our homes are equipped with:

• Six or more spacious private resident bedrooms,
most with private bathrooms.
• Beautiful Libraries & Piano Rooms
• Family Rooms and Recreation Rooms
• Elevator and Stair Chair
• Security System and Security Doors
• Beautiful Outdoor Gardens

We are NOT a nursing facility, instead a home in which our residents live with up to six other adults in a fun and friendly environment. We consider all residents a part of our extended family. The residents and families enjoy:
• Family meals, picnics and cook outs
• Family parties, holiday celebrations and outings

Managing a career, children, and an aging parent or loved one can be overwhelming. Our Social Adult Program benefits family members and caregivers by allowing them to rejuvenate or simply accomplish daily chores, knowing their loved one is in a structured, supervised, active and caring environment.

Our Program offers:
• Structured activities and social programs
• Fitness and wellness programs
• Entertainment
• Personal care as needed
• Delicious hot meals and nutritious snacks
• Comfortable accommodations
• Transportation to doctor appointments, by arrangement
• Flexible hours and schedules

Whether you just need a break from caregiving or just a little extra support while you recover from an illness, TLFC Senior Care Respite Programs can help. For many, the challenges of caring for a loved one are a part of everyday life. Caregiving can be a demanding, strenuous job that no one should have to handle alone. Seeking support and maintaining your health before you become exhausted, isolated, or overwhelmed is essential for you and your loved one. Respite care is a critical part of the overall support that families need to keep their child, parent, or loved one with a disability or chronic illness at home. Respite care comes in many forms, however, it is essentially sharing the responsibility for caregiving while also getting support for yourself in the process. As the name implies, it provides short term breaks or periods of ‘respite’ from your daily responsibilities that helps to relieve stress, restore energy, and promote balance in your life. We can provide respite care in our Family Type Homes, or in your loved ones own home.
